The way you are describing is not the right way to get a guy to like you. First of all, do not wear clothes to impress him. This is not being yourself you should dress for yourself and not him, otherwise he can see that you are trying way too hard. Secondly, some guys can be shy, if he show any signs such as; he blushes, looks towards the ground, has a hard time making conversation, then he probably likes you, too. There was an instance that this girl I work with had a thing for me.
She wore a dress out in public with her friends (co-workers) and they met up with me at the bar we all said we were going to.
I didn't think she got all dressy just for me. But apparently she did, and all that was going through my head was ... [what the hell?]. I glanced at her quite a few times but ended up leaving later because it ended up being her, me, and 5 other guys who I really didn't care for (sausage-fests suck).
I do like her personality and she is a beauty, but I didn't want a relationship yet.
So in all honesty, dressing up for a guy, in my view, doesn't really work. Your best bet is to just talk to him and flirt a bit. Be open. If he asks you out somewhere alone, then you're 'dating'. But if he doesn't show enough interest, then I'm sorry - he's not into you.
At least you can hold a friendship for him as long as you keep your emotions in check as 'friends' and not potential lovers.
